How Acupuncture helps regulate Reproductive Hormones?
Various studies have now shown that acupuncture needle points can cause positive responses. The pressure exerted by the needle creates a small electric current, which causes a release of prostaglandins into the blood. Prostaglandins are lipids i.e fats that are known to regulate the female reproductive system in ovulation, menstruation and ultimately pregnancy. When the hypothalamus receives the messages that are being triggered by the needle point, hormones such as dopamine, adrenaline, and serotonin cause the release of GnRH which in turn triggers FSH and LH production. Both of these hormones are critical for a healthy ovulation cycle.
